WELCOME TO THE GAMBIA
The bird life of the Gambia is both attractive and varied. Some 540 species have been recorded, which is remarkable for such a small country. Habitats include the Atlantic shoreline, the huge Gambia River, mangroves, wetlands, villages with farm and fallow land and the African bush. The Helm Field Guide “Birds of The Gambia and Senegal” is recommended and should be inspiring.
Keen birders will wish to explore “up river”, but even holiday makers with a passing interest in birds will find a half-day local trip fascinating.
Ebrima W. Barry, a well known Gambian birdwatching guide, can arrange a birding trip to suit your requirements, he has his own transport and can arrange accommodation if required. He will be pleased to meet you at your hotel to discuss options. Just write or ring for information. NEW Ebrima is now able to arrange a series of specialist tours - just click on "specialist tours" for details. |
